Dubbed as a bottle of the perfume in “its rarest, most collectible form,” the Grand Extrait contains the exact same formula of the classic Chanel No. 5 except that it is packaged in an exquisite and updated version of its faceted bottle, said to have been made using a combination of molds and the special handiwork of seasoned  glass-makers. The bottle is then placed in a “hand-assembled, artisan-crafted case,” a work of art in itself. Furthermore, the Grand Extrait comes in a very limited quantity, making it highly exclusive and quite collectible.

Chanel says No. 5 is still made with the same care and precision as it was first unveiled to the public in 1921, after company founder Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel commissioned legendary perfumer Ernest Beaux to create “a fragrance for women that smells like a woman.” The scent has since garnered millions of fans including legendary actress Marilyn Monroe who claimed that she wore the famous perfume even to bed.

Before Pitt, Chanel had Nicole Kidman, Audrey Tautou and Catherine Deneuve as the scent’s endorsers. The Tree of Life star is the first ever male spokesperson for the famous perfume. According to Andrea d’Avack, a representative for Chanel: “To keep a legend fresh, you always have to change its point of view. It is the first time we’ve had a man speaking about a women’s fragrance. We think very much that the perfume is a seduction between a man, a woman and the perfume. No.5 is our leading fragrance, and we are willing to make the investment to keep it on that level.”

Pitt reportedly received a £4.32m paycheck for the Grand Extrait deal.

Online fashion retailer Net-a-Porter.com, which describes itself as the World’s Premier Online Luxury Fashion Destination, is preparing to sell highly embellished red dresses by Italian fashion house Dolce & Gabbana, each with a staggering price tag of £32,000 (approximately $49,000). With such price tags that can buy several brand new cars, the dresses are easily the online store’s most expensive items to date. Six of the dresses have already been ordered by Net-a-Porter’s buyers.

“If we have women in mind for a particular piece then we will go for it and with conviction too. This Dolce & Gabbana dress has been produced in limited quantities and we have bought half of the world’s stock,” says Ben Matthews, Net-a-Porter’s buying manager.

The Dolce & Gabbana dress in question, which someone described as something her fashionable grandmother would wear, debuted on the runway during Milan fashion week in February.  It is a knee-length heavily-beaded shift dress with round neckline and three-quarter sleeves in deep red. There are no diamonds, rubies or any other precious gems that would be responsible for its lavish pricing. Apparently, it’s the exclusivity that added premium to the item.

Sicha described the tee as “made out of crocodile leather, luxurious and beautifully sewn.” He didn’t try it on but he thinks it is “rather uncomfortable, and perhaps a little heavy, for a t-shirt.”

There was no image of the actual Hermes crocodile tee in Sicha’s article but he was able to sneak in a photo of its price tag. “Forgive me for not having pictures of the T-shirt itself; photographs are forbidden at the Hermes store, most probably as an anti-knockoff policy or possibly to keep secret the fact that there are T-shirts that cost MORE THAN THREE OR FOUR ACTUALLY QUITE DECENT CARS,” he explained.

A quick research, thanks to Google, and we found this black crew neck crocodile skin tee that walked the runway in Paris as part of the Hermés men’s spring collection in June of 2012. The shirt is available in Hermès boutiques around the globe.

Recently, Mind Sports International decided that the lowly game board needs a high-tech and expensive make-over. In time for the company’s upcoming festival in Prague (December 1-4, 2012), a new state-of-the-art Scrabble board was developed. The technologically-advanced game board features LEDs, RFID chips and software that transmits the game to the Internet in real time, eliminating the need to record and track scores with pen and paper.

The board houses 225 RFID sensors underneath each square that detect the presence of letter tiles with corresponding RFID sensors. Throughout the game, the software scans the board every 974 milliseconds to transmit the game to a live-stream on the web.

Aside from the sophisticated tracking technology, the board is also given a modern look.  It is clad in carbon fiber and raised in a lighted platform that houses the complicated inner workings. The upgrade made the board the world’s most expensive Scrabble board.

According to Mind Sports International, they spent more than £20,000 (around US$31,800) to develop and create the new board, not to mention taking months to test it. The company hasn’t released a commercial price tag yet, but based on what they spent on research and development, you take a good guess at what its toy store price will be like.

Hutchings spent hours painstakingly placing each bling on the single classic court-heeled shoe using a pair tweezers and special adhesive.

The expensive footwear was presented to the public in Auckland in early October, alongside the debut of Hutchings Fall/ Winter 2013 collection. It was encased in a specially made Perspex box and was heavily guarded by a security team.

The diamond studded pump went on sale in a silent auction during Wilson’s 2013 autumn/winter collection launch in Auckland. The identity of the buyer was never revealed. Proceeds from the sale will go to Ronald McDonald House, for which Wilson is an ambassador.

The expensive frock sets the world record for the Most Expensive Dress, according to the World Record Academy. Wingham used semitransparent fabric for the dress, which she herself sew, and decorated it with rare black diamonds on the basque and shrug.

On the fringe of the dress are white diamonds framed in gold, painstakingly hand-stitched by the couturier herself. It took six months for Wingham to finish her 29 lbs. creation which she considers as “an anthem for a beautiful woman who loves life.”

The designer decided to present her costly masterpiece in the Ukraine Fashion Week, because she considers the location as a potential market for valuable outfits from her latest collection which also included high-priced jeans, which are also decorated with diamonds.

Meanwhile, the most expensive dress is still up for grabs for those who can afford its sky high price tag.

Manufactured in Molsheim, France by Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S., the Super Sport features a 16 cylinder – 1,200 horsepower engine. It was shown publicly for the first time at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in August 2010. The first edition came in a matte black and orange color combination.  To keep its exclusivity, Bugatti have stated that only 30 will be produced.

The latest Super Sport version to surface is the Pur Blanc edition.  Contrary to its name, which means “pure white” in French, the Bugatti Veyron SS Pur Blanc edition comes in stunning black-and-white livery.
